Hitler/Hussein - A Comparison

This by no means is trying to justify the war with Iraq. These are some findings I found while researching Mr. Hussein for a class. The similarities are striking.

Hitler

Childhood: Born to a poor family and lacked good father figure. His dad was a deadbeat and abusive.

School: Dropped out at age 16.

Military Service: Joined Germany Army in WWI. Was decorated, however he was only a messenger.

Party: Joined the German Worker's Party and was involved in a coup against the post war Weimar Republic.

Jail: Sent to prison for the coup where he wrote Mein Kampf and developed his theories and plans for Germany.

Rise to Power: Became the leader of the German Worker's Party, which became known as the Nazi party.

Power: By political means, Hitler was appointed Chancellor by President von Hindenburg. Once the Presdient died, Hitler dissolved the Presidency and took control.

Aggression: Launched invasions of Austria, Poland, Russia, France and Great Britian. Led the Systematic destruction of Jews, Homosexuals and Gypsies in Europe.

Hussein

Childhood: Born to a poor family. He had no father and his mother didn't want him.

School: Was a poor student, but with mentoring from Uncle he made it through Primary School.

Military: Never served in the military, however dreamed of it.

Party: Joined the Pan-Arab Ba'ath Party and led an assassination attempt on Iraq's ruler General Qassen.

Jail: Exiled and jailed for his coup. Met and followed Ba'athist leader al-Bakr, who later became President of Iraq.

Rise in Party: Once Ba'athists took power of Iraq, Hussein became the head of the Ba'ath secret police. Similar to those of Lenin, Hitler and Stalin.

Power: Developed his power base as head of the secret police, and pushed al-Bakr aside to take the Presidency.

Aggression: Invaded Iraq and Kuwait, launched chemcial weapons on Kurdish residents of Northern Iraq, and fired missiles into Israel.

Friend says GOP should do more

It disgusts me to hear that in time of defeat, mayoral candidate Dave Friend has tried to establish blame on the NE GOP. In no situation in life should anyone ever try to find a scapegoat when something does not go their way.

Right now times are good in Omaha, and Fahey hasd done nothing to lose voter's confidnece and the GOP could knock on every door for Friend and the outcome of the election would be the same. Friend fails to realize this and shame on him for alienating his support base when he needs them most. A bad bridge to burn.

It would be a good time to revamp your message and ENCOURAGE more volunteer support, because it is Friend's message that has not resonated with the Omaha voters, not the GOP's. It is quite obvious from the 2004 elections and the other City Council races that the NE GOP is doing just fine.

I have been placing requested signs for Friend for a couple of months now; does this mean when the General Election does not go in Friend's favor, I will be to blame? I know first hand that the GOP strongly supports its candidates. We walked street by street in Gretna, Springfield and Omaha for our 2004 candidates; I don't recall ever seeing Friend walking with us.

I want a leader as Mayor of Omaha, not some who will answer the call by doing the exact opposite of his opponent. Don't annex Elkhorn? Come on, it has to be done and the voters want it done! I especially want someone who will stand up in a time of adveristy, not someone who will pass the buck!

Rant Complete.

Once persecuted, now President

The Kurdish residents of Northern Iraq were once the victims of chemical attacks from Saddam Hussein. Hussein watched from a jail cell as Kurd Jalal Talabani was sworn in as President.

Talabani is expected to chose Shiite Adel Abdul-Mahdi for the Prime Minister position.

'Podcasts' Catching on with iPod Owners

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The home-brewed audio programs known as "Podcasts" are catching on with people who own iPods or other digital-music players, according to a survey released on Sunday.

Twenty-nine percent of U.S. adults who own MP3 players like Apple Computer Inc.'s iPod say they have downloaded podcast programs from the Internet, the Pew Internet and American Life Project found.

That means more than 6 million people are listening to a form of communication that emerged only last year, according to the nonprofit group.

Podcasters create radio-like programs of commentary, music or humor, which are saved in MP3 audio format and posted online. Listeners are automatically notified when a new podcast is available.

Podcasts have grown in prominence along with Weblogs, the online diaries that serve as alternative news sources.

Nearly half of digital-music player owners younger than 29 years old have tried out podcasts, the survey found, compared with 20 percent of those 29 or older.

There were no differences between men and women, or broadband and dial-up users, the survey found.

The Pew Internet and American Life Project based its survey on telephone interviews with 208 digital-media player owners between Feb. 21 and March 21. The survey has a margin of error of plus or minus 7.5 percentage points.

It appears that the GOP is harnessing this technology and the Dems are not. Of course I do not know that for sure because I cannot look at the DNC website for very long without my eyes burning out of their sockets!
