Once persecuted, now President

The Kurdish residents of Northern Iraq were once the victims of chemical attacks from Saddam Hussein. Hussein watched from a jail cell as Kurd Jalal Talabani was sworn in as President.

Talabani is expected to chose Shiite Adel Abdul-Mahdi for the Prime Minister position.
